Understanding Context is Key

In PTE Reading "Fill in the Blanks", context is your best friend.

  • Read the sentence before and after the blank to understand the flow.
  • Identify the part of speech missing (noun, verb, adjective, etc.).

Collocations Matter

PTE loves collocations (words that naturally go together).

  • Example: We "make" a decision, we don't "do" a decision.
  • We "take" a risk, we don't "make" a risk.

Grammar Clues

Look for grammar rules to narrow down options.

  • If the blank is after "to", it's likely a verb in base form.
  • If the blank is after "a/an/the", it's likely a noun or adjective+noun.

Time Management

Don't spend more than 2 minutes on one question. If you are stuck, make your best guess and move on.
